Motorcyclists are welcome guests in the Italian Trentino. More than 120 hotels and campgrounds in the region joined the initiative “Motorcycle Vacation” and “Club Mototurismo” of the Trentino’s tourism office.
Special services await the motorcyclists in these accommodations. They offer for example a garage for the motorcycles, drying rooms for equipment and clothing and a garage service for small repairs. From this selection the motorcyclist will certainly find an appropriate place to sleep. Additionally one will find a great landscape around Lake Garda which is definitely worth a motorcycle trip: In the north of Lake Garda the landscape combines alpine and Mediterranean surroundings. In the south the climate is influenced by the Mediterranean Sea.
The trip starts in the town Riva del Garda at the north corner of Lake Garda. 13,000 inhabitants live at this town on the 370 square kilometers of the lake. Form here the trip leads via Nago towards Monte Baldo. This mountain massif is located east of Lake Garda and stretches from Nago all the way to Garda.
The trip up the mountain via Besagno, Bretonico and San Valentino has plenty of steep slopes in store for friends of the sloping feeling. Arriving at the highest point, Ristorante Graziani invites the guests to enjoy an Espresso and a beautiful panorama across the mountainous landscape of Monte Baldo. The highest peaks of the massif reach 2200 meter above sea level.
After a break the most challenging part of the trip through the mountain massif awaits the motorcyclists: narrow and difficult to see roads. But on the way to Ferrarait also offers anything motorcyclist’s heart desires. Beyond Ferrara the trip continues towards Lake Garda to the town Garda. In Garda one should take another break and get off the motorbike. Either one enjoys another Espresso or the sights of the town. The lake was named after this place and it is certainly worth to take a look around here. After all the motorcycle trip should be nothing else but fun. This also includes a short stop in the pits. And if you are planning to take a longer break here you might want to visit the isle “Isola del Garda”.
Back on the motorcycle the trip runs along the east shores of the lake towards the south via Bardolino (one kind of red wine is named after it), Peschiera to Sirmione - today’s destination. The health resort invites its guests first of all to spend the night, but also to relax and discover, for example the Lime Terraces of Sirmione or the gigantic castle Scaliger.
On the second day the trip runs towards the west shores of the lake. From Sirmione one rides via Desenzano del Garda, the largest town along the lake with 20,000 inhabitants, Tignale to Tremosine. The town Tremosine is a combination of 18 communities and is located within Park “Alto Grada Bresciano”. Here one finds a spectacular view of the highest mountains of the park and the light-blue lake. The road which connects these communities is a pleasure to ride.
From Tremosine it is another short 22 kilometers before the motorcyclists reaches Riva del Garda, the starting point of the trip around Lake Garda. |
