It is true you can experience all of the above in South Tyrol. All of this isn’t only limited to the autumn when the first wine of the year is passed out, but is already starting in the spring, when the mountain passes are finally opened again.
The Dolomites are paradise for the fans of winding tracks who also like to give their bike a break and simple enjoy the nature surrounding them. Starting point is at the hotel Mondschein (www.hotel-mondschein.it) in South Tyrol, Eggen, Stenk 4. The hotel is awarded three stars. Karl Weissensteiner, the owner, is a crazy motorcycle fan himself. He has come to know the Austrian Alps and the Po-plain like the back of his hand. He has seen them all: the corners, the mountain passes and the canyons. He has put together a special road book which tells of tours between the Dolomite and the Lake Garda.
We’ll introduce three of the more than 20 trips here. Anyone can live out himself just as he/she fancies. Either you can enjoy the trips described below or you can even spend an extended vacation for up to two weeks in the area. The roads and routes around the Three Merlons, Brenta, Marmolata and the Lake Garda are surely worth it. And of course the biker-host Karl has more to offer than just solid ham and hearty wine. Anyone who has ever eaten at that really cozy place will surely appreciate the cookery! |
